In 2006 the average cost of a 15 day trip was $3750 per person including transportation, food, lodging, mission team work and a 2-day visit to a game park lodge. Actual costs will vary depending on the season and the cost of airfare at the time of airline ticket purchase.

Every trip is an adventure! Africa has some of the most beautiful land and friendly people in the world. Joining a team is a great way to have a life changing experience, get below the level of tourism and really make a big difference in many lives, including your own.
Team Development

Team development is the process of training and equipping groups to make the trip a positive experience. We have a comprehensive program for equipping you to be safe and effective in Africa.

We use short term volunteer teams to accomplish long term strategic plans. As a team member you are committed to the vision, goals, and objectives of Village Care. As part of a team you will be equipped to fulfill a specific part of the task.

Your team will meet regularly for several weeks before you leave for Africa. During that time you will work on team bonding, participate in local projects that will train you for village and orphanage work, and learn about working in a cross cultural setting. All areas of travel and gear requirements will also be covered.

  • Discovery Team: Designed for those who are new to the African experience Discovery teams visit a variety of projects including Orphanages, Urban Ministries, and Village Projects, topping off their trip with a safari to a game park lodge.

  • Development Team: These teams focus on the Village Partnerships by teaching and visiting in the village. Development teams help the village design projects, set goals, and measure progress.

  • Specialty Team: Specialty teams come for a single purpose such as medical assistance, nutritional training, screening, or teaching and usually consist of professionals such as doctors, nurses, teachers, or child development specialists. One or two specialists are usually supported by non specialist helpers so there is often room for assistants/helpers on these teams. Specialty teams may also be formed by organizations (such as Rotary International) to work on specific projects.

  • Adventure Team: Some teams combine a love of ministry with a love of extreme sports. Africa offers a myriad of opportunities for the adventurous from climbing Kilimanjaro or Mt Kenya to visiting the Gorilla preserves of Uganda.

  • Safari Team: Designed for donors and others who want to see the work first hand as they experience the wonders of the African preserves and explore tribal cultures.
